Come on, it's almost December!

I know alot of blogshop owners will love to blog about some of the most ridiculous demands requests that we get but we don't. Cause we know that no matter what we say, words will get twisted out of proportions.

But our conscience is clear, and I believe in karma. #justsaying ;)

Two narcissistic pictures just cause this is our blog and it makes me happy! :D

So the story goes

Counting down to Christmas has never been more exciting, but firsttttt, here's our last casual piece for the year! :) I am really quite pleased to end our series of manufactured casual wear with this dress, because it's been on our to-do list for the longest time. The factory took almost a full year to produce this design for us (we submitted it in Feb for manufacturing!), so we are really glad it made it before year end. :)

We wanted to do something that will make for a great addition to your casual wear wardrobe, and a piece that you will keep reaching for again and again, simply because it's so easy to pull on and flattering to wear. :) It's an inspiration from UK label, GIA London.

We basically kept the essence of the piece, but added little tweaks like made the armhole smaller so it is not as revealing. We made a sash as well, for those who prefers to wear it waisted, :) I personally really love the lace details; they add that special vibe of whimsicality to an otherwise classic racer back cut dress. We did it in two bright shades of tangerine and emerald green (jewel tones for the year end!) and neutral shades (forever classic blush pink and midnight blue)!

This one's for those who asked me for more pullovers: a classic cable knitted piece in a lovely neutral shade of oatmeal! I like mine layered over a tank dress for added texture, :)

Red is always a hard shade to find/wear, so we were really pleased when we chanced upon this gorgeous printed piece for you. It's a TOPSHOP design/print, and it's very indie chic with its floral prints and vivid shades.

And this one's for those looking for a work to dinner dress this lovely festive season! The peplum cut is highly work appropriate and the textured glitter top portion gives you the added bling you need for that Christmas get together you've been looking forward to all week! :)

Here's a highly sought after piece: I personally find it extremely hard to say no to sleeved blousons with crochet. :x

Another TOPSHOP inspired design on our launch list! :) How to resist polka dots and bows! The fit is also awesome possum as well!

For those looking for an edgier look, grab a piece of the mustard/black dress we've here. The slouchy shape drapes nicely on your frame, or opt for a different look and hitch things up with a thin belt!

Swirly skirt fans fall in! The blue color block swirly skirt dress is the piece to get, especially when it comes with delicious back button details and a small peekaboo cutout.

And the last of the lot: a duo toned magenta top with a contrasting layering hem. The piece is awesomely constructed, and it comes with a very pretty flower corsage belt!

I hope I got you ladies excited about the upcoming launch! :)))) Planning for the lookbook shoot this weekend and we can't wait to send sneaks your way as well!

Goodbye my weekend

Launching Lily Ladies series never fails to evoke the same response from yingdan and I, all the time.
Why were we not doing this when both of us still needed to don workwear, :( The pieces are all so delicately made and gorgeous, it's a pity we won't be able to wear them on a daily basis.

And because we've been there, we really know how it feels not being able to find nice pieces for work. So here's our offerings for the week! :)

Deep pinkish coral is such a rare shade for work pieces, so please grab this one if you are a fan. The thin pinstripes are a bonus add-on, and I especially love the bottom chiffon weaved details!

For those looking for something a little darker, how does purple sound? :) The purple/grey combination is such a refreshing take on the classic shift dress! The thin pleats at the waist help to shape your curves perfectly!

Fans of peplum dresses, we've got one in the works for you, :) A tri-colored piece in a white/blue/grey palette for the office!

And this one's for the classic-ist in you, a clean grey shift piece with a single row of simple black buttons sewn down front as the perfect finishing to the dress:

If you are seeking for something a little easier on the figure, and more delicate, here's an embellished neckline piece that I am seriously wanting to keep, I just need to invent the occasion now, :x

For those looking for separates, we've got a green tulip sleeves blouse coming up! The twist ruched sleeves are a definite style booster on the usual blouson cut, so grab one if green's your shade:

Not forgetting the pants! :) We heard your calls for darker shades, so here's a lovely well cut piece in dark mocha. It's something different from the usual blacks and greys, so embrace this new shade this season!

There's a baby blue checkered piece we forgot to take photos of, so no previews of that one yet! :(

Anddddd we are releasing the extras from the backorders that have arrived! :) Popular pieces ahead, so please grab a piece if you missed the instocks (and the backorder!) previously:

The ever happy yellow frock we cannot help grinning over:

The classic peter pan collar blouse that's so flattering to don:

The obi belt goddess that will be the greatest wardrobe addition this week, because it has sleeves, shapes your waist and does wondrous things for your silhouette:

For those waiting for our year end designs, a couple of them have landed and we are over the moon, :) Think happy bold shades and jewel tones fantabulous for the celebrations ahead!

And as a teaser, a little bird told us that Yingdan's Armani trench coat we sent for manufacturing is due to land on our sunny shores anytime soon. You heard right, a specially manufactured trench for you, just in time for the year end trips! Hehe, ok end of LP bulletin, over and out!

Of sun and water

I took a ridiculously long time to photoshop this series of photos, because I was having a little trouble with the concept. You see, we hardly do outdoor shoots because of the many issues involved. The planning, the logistics, the schedules, it's honestly quite a nightmare. Full respect to those who do these shoots on a regular basis, not easy at all! So not too long ago, I finally managed to persuade the team to head out for a shoot, albeit being a tad last minute and madly random, I think we managed to get the shots I wanted.

Kudos to Rach for sacrificing her only sleep in day to entertain her bosses, and I know I am not the world's easiest photographer to work with (yes, I really do know, so don't pout at me anymore!). I usually like shooting in the studio, because it's a controlled environment and you don't need to deal with flying insects and the moody sun. And there's the best invention of the century, called airconditioning. It doesn't help that Yingdan and I break out in perspiration very easily, unlike our dear model who seems to be born without sweat glands. :O

This shoot had me wading in water, sitting on random patches of grass and doing balancing acts on weird surfaces (because Rach is too tall and I am too short). And Yingdan had to follow two of us around like a nanny, holding all the barangs (random accessories, tissue paper, and erm my camera bag, hahaha). I wish I got a shot of us behind the scene, you would have known how grumpy we actually were. The weather was much more kind during Nic's shoot, and I am glad we didn't torture her too much. She's an absolute pro at outdoor shoots though!

Hahaha, anywayyyy enough whining, here's the preview for you ladies! :)

Fans of the previous Piano Concerto Blouse can rejoice! :) You ladies loved it so much, we decided to manufacture the piece in a better material/workmanship, and new color combinations!

Here's the original in cream/black, very classy and mod!

Tongue in cheek fun with the blue/black version, I really like how the dark shades work well together to create a bolder look.

And the surprise of the lot: the teal/cream combination. I usually record down the colors of our manufactured designs once we place orders, but I couldn't, for the life of me, remember this one. Hahaha turns out we were trying something a little brighter and happier, and I am really pleased with the way it turned out. Cheery enough to highlight your smile, but still a safe wardrobe addition for most.

A surprisingly easy to throw on piece, the mustard throwover with shredded details is the one to turn to, when it comes to keeping things interesting.

We were swept away by this lovely deep green printed piece with its ribbon trimmed lapels. The fit is reminiscent of the flippy short minis you see in the eighties, no? :)

This one's for those who have been asking us for plain flare skirts like the one we always feature, :) A close enough similarity in a softer fabric!

Clean lines with a pop of color, that's what I was grinning about when I saw this romper. It's seriously hard not to love this piece, with its shiny military buttons and easy fit. The kelly green shade goes fabulously well with neutrals, so it's not difficult to dress this up or down.

And the top reason why Rach wanted to murder me, :( I made her wear a thick shrug and sit in the hot sun (it was really very hot!), while waiting for the breeze to pick up. HAHA. But heyyy, I waited in the sun with her too! Anyhow, a basic black skater dress is our latest fascination because it's so easy to wear and goes great with anything!

I immediately stashed this the moment I saw it, hahaha. How not to love!! The heart motifs are wayyy too irresistible!

And another one for the bold shades lovers! Betty Boop-ish dress in a lovely lovely shade of red! The contrast piping trimming is the work of a genius!

This one reminds me of fairytales and dark woods where snow capped mushrooms sprout. And the sleeves! Wondrously draped and very full of character.

And the last one on the list: an aztec printed frock with full length sleeves that's great for a casual day out. The striking shades caught our attention, it's simply too gorgeous to ignore!

On a side note, for those asking us about our annual lookbook, yes we are doing it! The shipment has yet to arrive though, so we are twiddling our thumbs hoping they all turn up real soon. Cannot wait to do a showcase, I really do like our pieces quite a dandy bit this year, :) And in case you are wondering, yepppp we got pretty pieces lined up all the way till Valentine's Day so rejoice! ♥

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

We just finished a 5hour long outdoor photoshoot and some last minute but urgent sample viewing on a public holiday, so all I want to do is to lie flat and sleep for 24hours. zzz..

But, I MUST share the story behind this week's manufactured item! :D About 2 months back, while shopping at Raffles City, I saw a dress on Topshop's mannequin and literally gasped! haha, gave the boy quite a shock cause I'm seldom so excited about shopping. Don't get me wrong, I do love pretty things but when I'm surrounded by clothes every single day, it really takes something special to get me excited.

Anyway, so this is the something special tt had me grinning from ear to ear. I LOOOOOOVE the prints and the peekaboo lace crochet waist!!! Always wanted to own something like that and I'm over the moon that I finally found it. The waisted flare skirt cutting is just icing on top of a yummy cherry cake. teehee!

Even the boy thinks it's mad pretty cause he kept asking me to wear my new dress the subsequent weekends ♥.♥ However, if you take a closer look at the dress, you will realise that the cutting is less than perfect. The waist is a tad too low making me look like I have an unusually long torso. And the silliest thing about the dress is that it has a row of functional buttons at the back!! To get into the dress, I have to turn the back to the front, do up the buttons, turn the dress round before slipping my hands into the armholes. And all that trouble for a $89 dress.. Seriously, what were they thinking?

But do not fret!! We bring you the newly improved, LilyPirates version 2.1. heeheehee! Ours come with a much more sensible side zip closure and sewn down faux buttons. No need to worry about opening gaps in between buttons, and bursting buttons when you eat! haha.

Take your pick from Purple Florals,

Blue Polka Dots,

Pink Florals (one of my favourite cause it oozes vintage femininity!)

and Green Polka Dots (dress can be worn both ways, yays!)

OHhh!! did I mention that ours come with skirt lining as well? At more than 50% discount from Topshop prices, everyone from our dearest suppliers, friendly fellow blogshop owners and lovely models wanted a piece!! We are one big shiny happy family! :D

Other items in this collection includes a black gala maxi which has a fabulous cut that really helps to elongate the silhouette. Entire LP team wants to keep this as well! It might be a tad long for girls below 1.7m so do be prepared to send it for alteration.. :S but still very pretty and appropriate for year end parties!

A casual crochet top great with denim shorts or waisted flare skirts, love the drape shoulder detail :)

Marigold crop top which both of us really dig the unique length and tabbed sleeves

Simple yet classy monochrome flare dress which is going to last you a pretty long while. the cut is so everlasting!

My pick for this collection, H&M picnic frock with adorable chest pockets in a lovely shade of milk yellow, yumtums!

Simin's pick for the collection, a bell sleeved white blouse made of such awesome material it almost weighs as much as a dress ;)

and lastly, we seldom bring in chinos but when we stumble upon a pair of such amazing cut and interesting shade of blue, we just couldn't resist it, ha!

okie dokie, that's all babes! hope you girls see something you like and see you later at 8pm!
if you have any queries, do direct them to http://www.formspring.me/lilypirates and simin will try her very best to reply you before the launch. good night lovelies! ☾

Hallo-weeno-11!

Rightt.. so one week before Halloween, I went into serious panic attack. I was really caught up with work so I asked the boy to choose a costume on my behalf. The only criteria I gave was that it matches his. My thought bubbles envisioned Darth Vader+Queen Amidala or Ron Weasley+Hermione Granger -- fun, quirky and no where near skanky. Or even Atom and Zeus, I'll be able to punch him!!! But when he showed me what he ordered, I wanted to dig a hole and hide.

He decided to go as the Green Lantern and bought me Green Lantern Girl costume (is there even such a character?!). The costume required really long and toned pins which... well, let's not go there. Panic I was and ended up being teased incessantly in office, even by idiotic tiongster. -_-"

Halloween rolled around and I mustered all my courage and slipped into the micro dress. Thanking God that at least it has a v cut waist to help hide the tummy. After attending a Halloween themed party, we headed to Clark Quay with his pals. Every time someone squealed 'Green Lantern!', I'll let go of his hand and scurry away. haha! The most terrifying part of the night was when we were forced into participating in a best costume competition at Senor Santos. Had to do catwalk AND dance. Fortunately, we didn't come in last, so mega yay to that! :)

Favourite shot of the night, love my adorable geeky superhero!

The boys who went as Ghostbusters and were total major chick magnets. So naughty yo!

ended the night at Orchard Parksuites for some random fooling around.
we're still wondering what B was saying when this pic was taken

I cannot punch you but I can exterminate youuuuu!

Happy lunatic family!

Next year, I MUST be the one ordering the costumes. pfffft!

P/S: if you're looking for costumes for your DnD or Hen's night, do check out http://www.halloweencostumes.com/. They have quite a wide range and prices are more or less comparable to renting one in SG. No need for musky smelling ones anymore. Shipping takes only a week! :)
